Fayra lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. She is a visual artist trained at the Federal
University of Espírito Santo and a master’s student in the Graduate Program in Visual
Arts at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is
interested in mystery and in the ways it builds protection around her body. Through the
practice of abstract painting, she investigates how transgender and black artists can
experience love, freedom, and peace, escaping hegemonic and figurative stereotypes.

Born in Espírito Santo, she has consolidated her practice through her experiences with
the coastline, the city, and the constant movement in her life. Through experimentation,
she began her practice in abstraction in 2021, driven by her material interest in
choreography, erasure, color, texture, saturation, and desaturation.
